Samsung Galaxy S launch

Tonight, Samsung hosted its US launch of the Galaxy S at the Skylight West in New York City.  One of my editors at Seventeen originally got invited but couldn't make it, so she sent two interns in her stead--I was lucky enough to be one of them!

The event took place at Skylight West, a beautiful venue on the western edge of the Garment District.  After checking in at the desk and a short wait, the presentation began with a short speech by the Director of PR, followed by an overview of the new features by the Chief Strategy Officer.  Find an overview of all the fancy new specs here

The phones are beautiful--incredibly vibrant, high-def screen with amazing touch response.  Olivia, the intern that shared this awesome experience with me, and I both had a much easier time typing on that screen than we have on an iPhone.  Even though both of us just got new phones, we're now itching for one of these...wonder when they're going to hit the market?

Besides the phones, Samsung went all out with a pristine selection of drinks, from mini-margaritas that came in travel-sized Patron bottles to an exotic selection of juice, and a delicious array of tiny finger foods, which included no-mess fish tacos and one-bite ice cream sandwiches.  The view from the rooftop was an added bonus.

At the end came my favorite part of the night--a performance by hip hop artist B.o.B.!  Live and front row.
He plays guitar, too!
